Kearney High School students stepped outside their usual classrooms on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to make a difference in their community during the school's annual Day of Service!

Working alongside teachers and community partners, our Bulldogs participated in a wide variety of service projects designed to meet real needs, strengthen community connections and demonstrate the importance of giving back.

Students rolled up their sleeves to clean and organize community spaces, assist local food pantries, help care for gardens and outdoor areas, and support organizations serving families throughout the area. Others spent time with senior citizens, assembled care packages for children and first responders, and put their creativity and technical skills to work making games and other items for local organizations.

The projects supported an impressive range of community partners, including the Kearney Food Pantry, Kearney Senior Center, Kearney Family Foundation, Children's Mercy, local first responders, area senior living communities and several KSD elementary schools. Some students worked behind the scenes preparing supplies and organizing donations. Others had opportunities to connect directly with the people they were serving, sharing conversations, laughter and even a little line dancing!

The Day of Service is about much more than completing projects. It's an opportunity for students to experience firsthand how their time, talents and willingness to help can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We're incredibly proud of our KHS students for embracing that opportunity and demonstrating what it means to be part of a caring community.

Special thanks to the KHS teachers and staff who organized and supervised these projects, particularly Dr. Brad Miller, Kassidy Robertson, Erica Hart and Jennifer West, and to the many community organizations, businesses and volunteers who welcomed our students and helped make the day possible.

Great Schools = Great Community!
